Bazaar Interviews Dr. Green On Electrolysis Hair Removal

Dr. Green was featured in Bazaar’s latest article “Everything You Need to Know About Electrolysis Hair Removal” where she discusses the only FDA approved permanent hair removal technique – electrolysis. This method uses electric currents to destroy the root of individual hairs through the use of a fine needle or wire inserted into the hair follicle.

Electrolysis can cause some discomfort and will depend on the individual’s pain tolerance. Dr. Green states “it is advised to use a topical lidocaine cream before the appointment to numb the treatment area and minimize discomfort associated with the procedure”.

Every session for an electrolysis hair removal treatment can take some time, for example, one session on the upper lip may take between 15-30 minutes. And you will need a number of sessions to complete the job. Dr. Green explains “on average, between 10 and 14 treatments are needed for extensive electrolysis in a particular area”. As each session is typically done 4 to 6 weeks apart, the completion of the hair removal treatment can take a minimum of a year.
