How Does Olive Oil Benefit The Skin? Kyoord & Dr. Green

Olive Oil is good for the skin in various ways, thanks to its mix of “fatty acids, such as oleic acid, and vitamins A, D, K, and E, which work to enhance and restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier” according to Dr. Green in today’s blog at Kyoord’s “The Benefits of Olive Oil for Skin: Anti-Aging, Hydration, Antioxidant Protection” where she talks about its use for skin prone to eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

She talks about how olive oil minimizes water loss, and keeps skin soft, and supple.  However, like anything else new for your skin, before you start incorporating olive oil into your skincare routine, make sure to conduct a patch test. Dr. Green says “If you are thinking about incorporating olive oil into your skincare regimen, it is important to do a test spot on the skin to ensure no irritation occurs.” Apply a small amount to a discreet area and give it 24 hours to check for any reactions or irritations.

Also make sure not to overuse it as this can result in clogged pores – as this “may be irritating for individuals with sensitive skin or dermatitis or may lead to clogged pores and acne breakouts for individuals with oily skin.”
